The Extra Yard Community Project CIC delivers accessible, high-quality fitness and movement programmes for children, young people and adults, delivered indoors, outdoors and directly at community and partner venues.

Powered by the coaches, systems and expertise of The Extra Yard, we exist to open doors for people and communities who may not usually be able to access this level of training and support.

Our purpose is to use performance-level coaching in a community setting to:

• Improve physical health

• Support mental wellbeing

• Build confidence, connection and positive routine

• Remove financial, social and access barriers to participation


All surplus is reinvested into local people, places and programmes for community benefit.

 We provide flexible, mobile and partner-friendly programmes for all ages:

• Indoor: fitness studios, sports halls, colleges, schools, community centres and workplaces.

• Outdoor: pitches, parks, tracks and multi-use games areas.

• At Your Venue: we bring coaches, structure and equipment to your site or setting.


Programmes are tailored around each group and environment — from introductory movement and confidence-building sessions through to progressive athletic development.

Our Relationship with The Extra Yard Group Ltd

 The Extra Yard Community Project CIC (“the CIC”) is a separate, asset-locked, not-for-profit company established to deliver community benefit in line with its Articles of Association and the Community Interest Company Regulations.

We work in close partnership with The Extra Yard Group Ltd, a privately owned training and coaching company, to enhance the quality, safety and reach of our community programmes. This relationship is structured to ensure that community benefit always comes first and that all activities remain fully compliant with UK company and CIC regulation.

How the CIC benefits from The Extra Yard Group Ltd:

 • Access to The Extra Yard’s coaching expertise, curricula and session frameworks.

• Use of appropriately trained, insured and vetted coaches (including safeguarding and DBS standards).

• Use of established systems for bookings, communication, safeguarding, risk management and quality assurance.

• Careful, transparent use of The Extra Yard brand and reputation to build trust, engagement and pathways for participants.

• Operational efficiencies which help maximise the proportion of income spent directly on community delivery.

How we protect community benefit:

 • The CIC’s assets and any surplus are dedicated to community benefit and are not distributed to The Extra Yard Group Ltd or any individual, other than in payment for goods or services on an arm’s-length, reasonable-value basis, or as otherwise permitted by CIC legislation and our Articles.

• Any arrangements with The Extra Yard Group Ltd are documented, approved by the CIC’s directors as being in the best interests of the community, and regularly reviewed for value, quality and impact.

• Conflicts of interest are declared and properly managed; affected directors do not take part in decisions where they have a conflict.

• Any reduced-cost or pro bono support from The Extra Yard Group Ltd is treated as a direct contribution to community benefit.

 In summary, The Extra Yard Group Ltd provides professional expertise, systems and support which strengthen our work, while The Extra Yard Community Project CIC remains independent, asset-locked and operated solely for community benefit.
